The incongruous raccoon of the Animal Crossing licence, he’s the one who makes his plans on the sly. Buying up the whole world to control it is his sole objective, today we’re going to talk about Tom Nook.

An honest worker

He made his first official appearance in the animation ‘Jackpot‘. He is the manager of the casino into which Saya enters in order to gather information about Braker, a thief who seems to be taking advantage of his free time to place bets and win even more money.

At the end of the episode, he resigns as Casino manager because he wants something bigger and better paid.

Earn even more money

We meet Tom Nook again some time later in the animation ‘The Gift’. He is the one who builds Parker’s studio at the request of Agent 3, who gives him this gift after being saved by him. This is how Tom Nook raises money, just as he does in his own village.

A dealer in objects

He makes another brief appearance in the episode ‘Chaotic Break’, this time as a merchant. He sells a weapon to Kraven to earn more money. A highly visible ‘I am evil’ easter-egg serves as a foreshadowing to show viewers that he’s up to something really strange and nasty.

A horrible mayor

We learn in the episode ‘Newcomers’ that Tom Nook is also the mayor of a village and that he has captured Olga (a rival friend of Saya’s) so that he can infiltrate and delay the heroes while he carries out his objectives. To control her he uses technology resembling raccoon ears, inspired by what Dj Octave used on the Octolings Rivals to hypnotise them. All the money Tom Nook earned went to pay for his equipment and associates. He pays for the Vulture’s weapons and his suit.

His henchmen

In the episode ‘Multiverse’ we learn that he has partners: The Informant and the Vulture. He uses them to obtain information and fight the heroes, buying himself time to find a way to control the whole world.

The informer ends up being beaten by the 2 Saya and gives all the information he has about Tom Nook and his plan. This allows the heroes to confront him one last time.

On learning that the informer had been unmasked. Tom Nook becomes enraged and decides to take care of the heroes himself, abandoning the Vulture and all his associates.

Economy in freefall

Isabelle, realising the disaster that Tom Nook has caused by looking after the village for a while, decides to become mayor again so that she can take things in hand and save the villagers.

In the episode ‘Terrible Surprise’ Tom Nook attacks the town so he can do as much damage as possible. He is then stopped by another Spider-Man who appears to be a Human. Unfortunately, this only delays him a little as Tom Nook’s robot is very powerful and manages to knock out the spider-man. It’s not long before Spider-Squid arrives to put an end to Tom Nook’s destructive madness. Appearing rather relaxed, the hero laughs and doesn’t take the raccoon seriously.

But Tom Nook hasn’t said his last word – he’d planned this situation in advance – and his main partner, the Vulture, steps in for a second round against Spider-squid. The hero tries to intercept him but is carried away by the Vulture’s power and crashes to the ground, losing consciousness. The others flee and Tom Nook attacks Kraven by surprise, quickly knocking him out. He also knocks out Officer Meggy, so the situation for the heroes is critical.

A predictable ending

In the final episode of Tom Nook’s story ‘Twist’ it’s Catgirl who makes her first real appearance. She’s the one who turns the tide of battle allowing the heroes to regain the upper hand, she also saves Olga and paralyses Tom Nook’s robot. The Vulture takes advantage of this opportunity to reveal his true face and betray Tom Nook by trying to eliminate him. However, Spider-squid comes to his senses and delivers a powerful blow to the Vulture, saving the raccoon. He mocks him once again, leaving him in his webs to the mercy of the police.

After these events, Tom Nook is taken away by the police. Now he’s locked up in his own village prison, where the locals throw peanut shells at him. The village has managed to recover from Tom Nook’s horrors thanks to Isabelle, who is now the new mayor.
