The Great War is a canonical Splatoon event that also took place in the Spôdeurtoon universe. 100 years ago, the inklings and octolings declared a devastating war for the zapfishs which supplied Inkopolis. This war resulted in a huge number of deaths and traumas for the combatants. The world’s other species did not intervene, believing that this war was not theirs. In the modern era, it is considered a sign of misfortune and is never mentioned in recent documents. It is written that the Inklings won this war, putting the Octolings in excile, but it only lasted a few years before a peace agreement was reached between the two parties.

Today, peace continues to prevail, and people have never been happier. But it’s not impossible that some of our descendants may one day want to start that horrible war all over again, for one reason or another.
